The incident occurred after their stolen SUV was spotted by police, leading to a high-speed chase by authorities who found it hard to keep up with the vehicle. The crash claimed the lives of two teens on the scene with another two dying days later in the hospital. The community is mourning the loss which also included a boy who was on the Newberry High School football team.

Glen Sullivan Sr., 54, agreed to be physically castrated after he raped a 14-year-old girl and impregnated her. He pleaded guilty to four counts or rape and was sentenced to 50 years in prison. In 2008, a Louisiana state law was passed that determined that if a man was convicted of certain rape offenses, he may be sentenced to chemical or physical castration. Surgical castration is rarely chosen and defendants have to give consent for the procedure.
